So, both managers were under the same pressures were they?
If Oxford were beaten 4-0 last night would the fallout have been the same? Of course it wouldn’t!

You did not know something - the definition of ignorant

No shame in that. I am ignorant of a lot of things.

Pretending you did know something you didn't was what I called you out on, with proof.

No amount of repeated name-calling changes the meaning of the word or reality of the situation.

Just had a look at

https://www.thegiantkillers.co.uk/thebestoftherest.htm

Admittedly, it's subjective, and limited to the FA Cup, but you have to go back to the '50s to find giantkillings of the scale of last night.

1956: Bristol Rovers 4 ManU 0 and...

1954: West Ham 4 Huddersfield Town 0 (HT were title contenders that year)

tex, the point is that if you're not playing your first XI, you have to play those who are on the way up looking for their big moment.

we do the opposite, tired old hands and players in a sulk because they know being sent to oxford on a wednesday means they're not involved at the weekend.

This loss proves...yet again...
We have a good first 11...but a thin squad overall...
The reserves in the squad rarely play...so they have little experience of playing together...
Maybe the U23 squad should have played ...with some key first teamers on the bench...

Re: ⚽ Oxford v West Ham - The Official Match Thread Carabao Cup FT 4-0
league cup has become an unofficial second XI mid season friendly tournament. all fairly depressing.

i love the domeatic cups, but want to put a pillow over the league cup's face just to put it out of its misery and give a CL spot to the FA cup winner just so clubs stop taking the piss.

Last night will take me a while to get over, fuming. But what really annoys me is that people think AFC Jason BOURNmouth on Saturday is more important, if we win then last night is forgotten.

Draw has made it miles worse too, what a chance to have something to look forward too and actually win something and we've lost to a load of SHITE again.

I have said nothing about Pellegrini is this bit with you.

I think every level of the club must take responsibility for that shambles.

I was just correcting you when you were ignorantly telling everybody on here what the situation was among Oxford United and its supporters.

Nothing more or less.

I’m just amazed how apathetic out fan base has become.
Oxford Utd can have all the expectations they like but if you’re serious in saying that Pellegrini and whoever their manager is we’re under the same pressures and expectations then I give up, it’s a total nonsense!
And of course the players have to responsibility as well but that doesn’t excuse the messiah!

It is not my argument. You may be making up stuff for an argument on a website. I'm not.

I am just telling you what Oxford United fans thought and think. You can tell them they were wrong until your typing fingers bleed

They probably will laugh in your face, as they have every right to do right now.

And you know it.

RJ,

This is all going round in circles and lets agree to disagree.

Just answer this, please.

Why do you not attach any blame to the players whatsoever? That's essentially what Iam arguing against in this instance.

They are 12th in League 2, they can have all the expectations they like they should not even be thinking about beating a premiership side!
I wanna fuck Myley Cyrus it ain’t happening though!
Your argument is total nonsense and you know it!

Think the whole team was crap. The only player who was playing well was holland and he got subbed...

He should have played the youth they would have at least given it a go.

The fans expect cup runs, cups are bigger than the league for them .

They went to Wembley twice with the EFL Trophy since I have been here, winning one.

They beat Newcastle a few years ago in the FA Cup

They want more. A lot of them had 1986 on hats and shirts last night. 1986 was when they won the League Cup.

You can talk out of ignorance on website all you want, you don't know their fans or their expectations. So you are just making stuff up.

Re: ⚽ Oxford v West Ham - The Official Match Thread Carabao Cup FT 4-0
Pellegrini had a plan as well ...

Behave yourself, he was under no pressure at all last night, if they were seriously expecting to beat us then that’s the biggest indictment of Pellegrini I’ve ever heard,
He had a plan but if it failed, so what? We were playing a premier side, move on, Pellegrini on the other hand ..

This is not true.

They have had cup runs and beat bigger teams in recent memory.

It has been more successful that their league performance a lot of years.

When he announced the changes the days before there were similar reactions to here. "I wish he would have told us this before I shelled out £25s" etc.

His response,- I have ask the chairman to give me a "two-pronged attack" one for the league and the cups. The team I put out will "arguably be better than the one" that won 6-0 at the weekend.

He had a plan and it worked.

(The quotes are things I remember verbatim but you can confirm in the Oxford Mail, from yesterday or the day before. I personally am avoiding it.)
